Life Line - Hope for America
While reading II Chronicles 7 it hit me like a ton of bricks…. There is hope for our ever-wandering country. But before I go into that subject lets discuss what my feelings were about where we are in America. For about a year now I have been restless with what is going on in our country, all the way from Washington to my own neighborhood. Like so many of you that have seen the move of the Holy Spirit and long for Him to move again I have been vexed in my own spirit to see the direction that we are headed as a whole. I have visited many churches in the past 6 years and the one thing that I have found to be consistent is …. NO CONSISTENCY. It has been unsettling to me to see the awesome potential of a hungry congregation only to see the leadership get side-tracked to superficial things and goals and then feed the "hungry" only part of the meal (Bible). What I mean is this, many of our leaders are raising new Christians and churches on the "dessert" of the Bible and not the "meat". Once this is done, then you must continue feeding this non-filling and quick burning food or they stand the chance of loosing the audience they have attracted. The thing about eating your dessert BEFORE the main meal is that yes it taste great and seems wonderful at the time, however, you then are too full to eat the "real" food and not long after leaving you are hungry again. In this same sense we are doing this in the church today, we are being given a emotional feel good service that plays to our lazy, make me feel good now side and fails to show us our "dark side" and what must be done to get ride of it - the conviction of the Holy Spirit that tells our inner core that something is wrong and needs to be changed. Unfortunately, too many people don't want to have this feeling of conviction due to the fact of actually having to change their behavior and live a life according to biblical standards and not their own. But hey, lets not forget about our leadership. Many, not all, are sacrificing quantity for quality. Wanting to have large numbers is great as long as we feed those large numbers the balanced word of God and not some feel good motivational speech that makes you think you are at a sales convention for the next and upcoming weight lose idea. When you couple these together you get a church that is superficial and fake that offers nothing different than that of other "Religions". Psalms warns us against the "other woman" or shallow Christianity, which in its truest form is a false religion, and requires us not to be lazy in our relationship with Christ. Just as Paul wrote to the Corinthians and warned them about allowing a lazy attitude towards sin and the aftermath of what it would bring. We are seeing today what this approach breeds; lazy, soft on sin, large churches that have no real depth or meaning. You are now probably wondering why I named this "Hope for America", this is why; even though the church has strayed away from the whole scripture, all is not lost. We are where we are because of the apathy that has been allowed to creep in and the church (not our politicians) is the one responsible for the condition of our country. It is now time for "we the people" to stand for what is right, not what is good, because the two sometimes do not match. If we listen to what II Chronicles says in chapter 7 we will see that even now God is wanting and waiting on us to "humble ourselves and pray, seek and crave My face…" says the Lord and if we will do this it will change the face of America and soon we will change the way our churches behave which will make our people repent which will then transfer to what our leaders do, say and act, we then will soon see and receive what God promises for our humility " … I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin and heal their land.". This is the Hope for America… if we do what Christ asks, he has promised to heal our land. We as the church MUST stand and begin to make the change for our country and get back to the foundation and balanced Word of God so we can receive the healing hand of God and not the judgmental one.
God Bless,
